Description

From the Bonn-Matreier Hüttet, follow trail no. 923 to Sandboden in the area of the Nilbach stream. In this area, the quite steep ascent to the waterfall begins. Here begins easy boulder climbing, passing the waterfall on the left, to the Nilkees at approx. 3,050m. Follow the valley basin on the left to the short but steep, sandy ascent to the Eichhamscharte at 3,127m. Here a beautiful view opens up into the Timmel and Umbalt valleys. The path continues in serpentines over increasingly steep, rocky terrain. A few cairns mark the way before you have to go around a rocky outcrop on the right at about 3,300m. From here on, block climbing begins (II - III), some bolts secure the ascent. Shortly below, the key section of the tour begins, a short, steep and very exposed cross gully to the summit. From the summit at 3,371m you have a magnificent view of the Venediger, Lasörling and Glockner groups. Even the Lienzer and Südtiroler Dolomiten lie at your feet.

The descent follows the same route as the ascent. An ascent with a mountain guide is recommended!
