Anyone who has visited Umbal Falls has been to the first water exhibition path in Europe. You can take yourself on to from Ströden car park.

There is hardly any other valley in the Hohe Tauern where the landscape-shaping effect and the nature of a glacial stream is as impressive as in the Umbaltal valley with the imposing stepped falls of the Isel. The smooth green rock of the riverbed with its eroded hollows gives an idea of the power of the flowing water masses. The nature trail of the same name invites you on a journey of discovery and offers spectacular views of the Isel cataracts. Starting from the Ströden car park, which can be reached via the municipality of Prägraten am Großvenediger, you can make your way to the Umbal Falls. Either on foot or, in a very idyllic and original way, by horse-drawn carriage. Once there, you will meet a large number of nature lovers, as the Umbal Falls are much more than just a popular excursion destination. The Umbal Falls also have symbolic value. They can symbolise the entire beauty of the Hohe Tauern National Park. There is hardly any other place where you can get so close to the essence of a glacial stream.

This is where the last free-flowing glacial river in the Alps plunges spectacularly into the valley. The show trail winds its way along the impressive gorge of the Katarakten from Ströden to the Blinig bridge via seven stations. The information boards along the way provide information about the importance of the Isel, which can be described as the lifeline of Osttirol. At the same time, platforms invite you to experience the spectacular. Constructions that protrude 30 metres into the gorge are just one option for people who want to experience the thrill and get up close to nature.

The NaturKraftWeg Umbalfälle has been awarded the Österreichisches Wandergütesiegel.
