St. Johannis the starting point for rafting and kayaking tours in the wild waters of the glacial river towards Lienz. A walk or a hike along the banks of the Isel guarantees pure relaxation and those who prefer a bit higher are recommended to try the hiking trails to Oberleibnig, Michelbach and Oblaß. These places are idyllic hamlets in the midst of unspoilt natural surroundings and water-abundant recreational areas. Oberleibnig can also be reached by cable car from St. Johann. Once at the top, you will not only be able to enjoy a magnificent panorama but also a managed snack station with a sun-drenched terrace. If you have the necessary stamina, you can start from Oberleibnig to a long hike to Mount Hochschober, which gave the Schober Group its name. River Isel’s beautiful banks in the valley offer a bike path for cyclists.
