Amlach

A mixture between nature and urban

Surrounded by fragrant forests, the municipality of Amlach extends in the south of the city of Lienz. Here at the foot of the Rauchkofel is a very popular place for holiday guests who look for urban vicinity, appreciate shopping and at the same time want to stay in the countryside. Above all, its excellent location, directly in the south of Lienz, speaks for Amlach. Mediterranean flair is also not far away, just like quiet forest paths and sprawling river bays - depending on your mood, there are countless interesting destinations to choose from in and around Amlach.

The place unites tradition and the modern age in a very special way. In the west, the contemporary community hall and fire station is replaced by rustic farmhouses.

They are accompanied by residential buildings and hostels of various architectural styles, all of which contribute to the diverse townscape in Amlach. In the centre, right in front of the community hall, there is a big green area for young and old. This spacious green heart of the community has deliberately been preserved. The park is traversed by a small stream, where nature lovers find pure relaxation - without even having to get out of the village. However, those who prefer the latter, will soon realize that the area in and around Amlach provides for numerous recreational activities. Especially popular as a holiday and excursion destination is the well-known Dolomitenhütte. Surrounded by the steep crags of the Lienz Dolomites, the lodge offers breath-taking views, culinary highlights and special holiday pleasures.

Down a few meters above sea level, the only bathing lake in Osttirol, Lake Tristacher See, is a worthwhile recreational destination. In between fragrant forests and steep mountain ridges jumping into the cool water appears even more enticing. In Amlach you can also follow in the footsteps of the "Dolomitenmänner", who year after year take the torturous path to the Kuhbodentörl. The route via the Goggsteig can also be mastered more comfortably on a hike. The trail rewards hikers and runners with a fascinating view onto the Lienz Basin and the Schober Group.
