between Großglockner and Dolomites
There is still so much for bikers to discover in the Alps. A hidden queen of the roads rests between the Großglockner and the Dolomites. The most south-westerly corner of Austria has quite a lot to offer. Superb panorama roads and speedy connections to the hotspots of the biker scene in the Hohe Tauern, through to the wild passes in the Dolomites.
Any motorbiker who has ever been in Osttirol, waxes lyrical about it. Mighty rock faces, with plummeting waters in between and the lush green of the alpine pastures welcomes bikers who are travelling from the north. In the south are the ‘Unholden’ - as the Lienz Dolomites were once called on account of their distinctive summits – where the sun beams on to your helmet visor. Osttirol could have been made as the starting point and holiday destination for pleasure bikers.
