"Ice climbing for everyone!"

Every year on the second weekend in January, the association "Freunde des Eispark Osttirol" holds the Osttirol Ice Climbing Festival at the Osttirol Ice park. This is now the largest ice climbing festival in Europe featuring not only presentations by famous personalities, many workshops and the extensive test centre but also the Osttirol ice master speed competition and the concluding ice party.

ICE PARK OSTTIROL
During the ice climbing festival, access to the ice park is secured, groomed with cross-country skiing equipment and easily accessible in 20 minutes.

More information:

You do NOT have to register to take part in the ice climbing festival this year either, just for a private coaching session. Everyone is welcome to climb with their colleagues and friends in the ice park, watch the ice master, look at and test the latest equipment from the exhibiting companies and enjoy a good meal of suckling pig, sausages, punch or mulled wine in the mountain rescue tent of the Matrei i.O. local centre! There is an ice park support fee of 15€ / day. If you want to stay overnight in the Matreier Tauernhaus, you have to book this yourself, but there is a special price for ice climbing festival participants: from €215 for 3 nights including half board.
