Description

Starting point, which runs parallel to the summer trail, is the mountain station for the two-seater chairlift, the Sternalm (1505 m). Head uphill along the piste. After the right-hand loop, cross the ski piste as quickly as you can. At "Hubertussee" reservoir, the so-called "fairy-tale trail" then begins. Signposts on the trees (yellow triangles with a red edge) help you locate the exact path, thanks to their associated ski piste, it really isn’t difficult at all to get your bearings.

At the half-way point, at about 1780m, you come to a nice shelter at the ski piste, before this disappears then in the deep forest. At around 1850 m you have to skirt along the edges of the ski piste again for a short section, before you finally leave it on a right turn-off. At a wooden cross you get to the ski trail which heads up to Hochsteinhütte, from where you can also see the lodge. After a few metres you come to the Hochsteinhütte (2025 m)
