We start at the Hotel Weiler and follow the cleared winter hiking trail about 1 km down to Mühlboden.
Here we turn sharp left and share the track with the cross-country skiers for about 200 metres. After crossing the Gailbrücke bridge, the trail is all ours again and bizarre ice crystals enchant us along this largely shady stretch to the sawmill in Bergen, which we bypass on the right. In Bergen we turn sharp left again and follow the cleared road to the last houses. A beautiful and much photographed view of the lovely village Obertilliach can be admired from here.
There are now two possibilities to return to the village: Either to the right along both chapels St. Nikolaus and St. Helena along a groomed winter hiking trail or along the cleared path.
