Description

From Hochpustertal to Lienz initially along the B100, down from the Drau heading for Oberdrauburg. Start bearing right there, taking the mountain road across Gailberg Saddle to the twin towns of Kötschach-Mauthen. On this just 13 km long connection there is a partly upgraded mountain road which has a 10 % gradient to the north and a drop of 8% in the south. From Kötschach-Mauthen, the Lesachtal extends to the Carinthian border – it is one of the most scenic valleys in the Eastern Alps. Just before the state border for Tyrol you reach the Maria Luggau pilgrimage church. Due to the terrain motorbike riders go from one bend to another. Crash barriers have been erected at all dangerous sections. The maximum inclines are 12 %. During the transitional seasons in particular the views through the southern valleys to the snow-covered peaks of the Carnic Alps are impressive. Continuing on the B111 you come to the conservation-protected scattered village of Obertilliach. Via the 1530m Kartitsch Saddle you get to Kartitsch. After this, several serpentines proceed to Tassenbach, where you once again merge on to the Pustertaler Straße, the B 100. You follow the B100 to the starting point Lienz.
