Bike fun in Osttirol
Enjoyment for everyone offers the Großglockner Resort Kals Matrei throughout the walking destination Großglockner with its new trails and mountaine-bike routes.
Guests can tackle the ascent at ease via the gondola lift and then wholly concentrate on the challenging downhill sections during the day. Try not to be distracted by the views to the Großglockner. The first section of the single trail is very difficult and is only recommended for experienced riders. The second section (end of the forest, as soon as you come to the farm road) is easy to negotiate. The trail starts at the intermediate station for GG-Resort Bergbahnen at1960 m. The destination is Großdorf at 1260m with the overall length of the route being 4.76 km.
The Adler Trail is being completed and will be ready for the 2018 summer season when the gondola lift opens.
The single trail starts at the mountain station for Kals Gondelbahn on the Cimaross. From there you get to enjoy a superb panoramic view to more than 60 mountains which are above 3000m. The single trail which is around 3.7 km in length and which flows well, proceeds right through the natural surroundings which features Alpine roses and arnica. The Großglockner massif is always in your line of sight. The 420 metres altitude into the valley is covered via approximately 60 steep bends and there are numerous little jumps, waves and troughs to suit all abilities. A particularly successful, natural single trail, aimed at the experienced cycling family. The end station is the intermediate station for the gondola lift.
This single track impresses with numerous jumps and is particularly suitable for practicing and perfecting your techniques. The route offers plenty of driving fun on meadows and in the woods to both beginners and professionals.
The end station is the Temblerhof and subsequently the gondola base station in Großdorf where a MTB route leads over the "Dorfer fields".
Beginning at the Adler Lounge, the route runs along a gravelled track, initially downhill in slight hairpin bends, where you reach the picturesque Goldriedsee after a short drive.
Near the Matreier Goldriedbergbahnen there's a turnoff. To your right, the tour continues over lush alpine meadows, rising slightly up to the Kals-Matreier Törl Haus, which is perfect to take a short rest. Near the crest of the mountain bike trail there is the mountain bike trail leading back to the Adler Lounge.
Completion autumn 2018, use in the summer of 2018 at your own risk.
The bottlenecks at the section between the Kals-Matreier-Törl and the Adlerlounge will be broadened in the summer of 2018, so that even there the spatial juxtaposition of bikers and hikers is possible. In the meantime, the narrow and steep passages are guided as a sliding section.
A tour with most impressive panorama! Start at the bottom station of the cable-car in Matrei in Osttirol. Follow the route # 147 through Matrei and turn in Goldriedstraße after the church. Bike up the mountain and at km 4,5 km turn left in a gravelled road and at km 6 reach the asphalt road again. After about 7 km reach a gravelled road again. Some quaint huts invite to rest and to take a break from everyday life. The MTB route # 147 leads up to 2.200 hm and to top it off bike ahead up to 2.400 hm and feel like a king over yourself.
The Mountainbikeroute (Nr. 140) is the extention to the Mountainbikeroute "Gornerbergweg" (Nr. 116) from Großdorf to the middle station of the cable car up to the high-alpine area in 2200 meters. The route passes the Gornermulde via chapel Holy Maria along serpentines up to the alp hut Kals-Matreier Törl. The gradient of the route is up to 20 % therefor a good level of athletic stamina will be needed. It is a shared trail, the width is 1,2 meters, hikers and considerately slow-moving bikers find easily space next to each other. Mainly the route is exclusively driven uphill. The descent can be made starting at the Adlerlounge on the Eagle Trail (singletrack difficulty level blue or S1).
From Großdorf car park head to Tembler. At Temblerhof bear right and continue on the forest trail. In a westerly direction the forest trail gets steep here. After around 700 m bear right heading for Glocknerblick. After around 2 km the forest trail, which climbs steadily, comes to the branch off for the Glocknerblick. Go straight on here, continuing in a northerly direction. After the crossing at the Gschlösslift there is another moderate climb of around 1 km up to the Kereralm. From the Kereralm there is an outstanding view to the Glockner massif and into the Schober group.
