The via ferrata route on the Große Kinigat is difficulty level A-D and is high alpine in character. The steep climbing sections up the Große Pfeiler and the difficult sections via slabs pack a punch and are not to be underestimated. In terms of landscape this is an impressive tour, but with a decent 650m of climbing and 450m altitude, it is not suitable for children. Climbing time for the face is around 2 ½ hours. From the end of the path up to the summit at 2689m it is another 45 mins.
Difficult sections: D. The difficult sections of this long via ferrata route are generally in the lower area of the rock face! There are no emergency exit options for this via ferrata route! Not suitable for children.
Equipment: Complete via ferrata equipment and helmet. Crampons, ice picks and an additional safety rope for spring and winter climbs.
