Winkeltal

The valley Winkeltal, which is not only one of the most popular starting points for numerous hikes but is also considered one of the most beautiful sections of the Herz-Ass-Villgratental long-distance hiking trail, features great diversity. The 300-year-old farm Wurzerhof allows an insight into the variety of traditional crafts and trades in the Villgraten valley. The riding stables and the surroundings are a gem within the landscape.
It is a veritable picture-postcard landscape from Mooshofalm towards Volkzeiner Hütte. Heading into the valley, by the rushing stream Winkeltalbach, lie many rustic mountain chalets whose surroundings are characterised by the laborious manual work of the farmers.
The Winkeltal also entices visitors in winter with a wide range of highlights. It is an ideal starting point for many ski touring routes, as well as winter hikes or snowshoe hikes.
The natural sledge run Tilliachalmweg by the riding farm promises fun for guests of all ages and the romantics among them are offered horse-drawn sleigh rides during the winter months into the deeply snow-covered Winkeltal.
