From the car park in Oberhaus a well signposted trail proceeds to the nearby Oberhausalm and continues through the Swiss pine forest and a gorge, heading for Seebach- and Jagdhausalm in the Hohe Tauern National Park. It is here that ‘Pfauenauge’ is located, somewhat off the beaten track, high up. The little mountain tarn, surrounded by sedge thickets, presents a popular photo opportunity.
