From 19 to 21 December, up-and-coming biathlon talents from almost 40 nations will meet experienced biathletes with World Cup experience in Obertilliach. Competitions in the individual, sprint and mass start events will be held over three days .
Individual competition: After an interval start, the running distance is 15 km for women and 20 km for men. Shooting alternates between prone and standing, with each miss adding one minute to the running time.
Sprint: Women start their 7.5 km run and men their 10 km run in 30-second intervals. Shooting takes place twice, first prone and then standing. Each miss results in a 150 metre penalty lap, which means a time loss of around 20 seconds.
Mass start: The best 30 athletes start the race at the same time. The distance for women is 12.5 km for competitors and 15 km for men. There are two prone shots and two standing shots. Each miss is penalised with a penalty round.
A festive programme accompanies the athletes and sport enthusiasts through an exciting weekend!
