The traditional art of bread-baking in the Lesachtal Valley
Carried-on bread tradition and natural sourdough - the secret for good bread from Lesachtal
Lesachtal bread is famous far beyond the borders of Lesachtal. For more than 30 years, the senior boss has been baking Lesachtal bread in her farm and hotel. This art of bread baking has become a UNESCO World Heritage, as bread is baked from fine natural sourdough, local flour and water according to age-old recipes. No one can do this better than Rosa Lanner, who also teaches the amateur bread bakers how to knead properly. The master bread baker from Lesachtal is also happy to pass on the art of preparing sourdough, the combination of the right spices and all kinds of interesting facts about the history of bread baking. Participants will be given the recipe, bread flour and their self-baked bread to take home.
